![]() But I think, on Halo 5 especially, we're holding our own. Some of the American teams are really hard to match up against. Is that a common occurrence, getting the better of American teams? We actually ended up playing them in a show match, and we beat them, and that was shown at Gamescom. So we went out there and played against one of the pro teams from America, and got to play the game for about four days, which was an amazing opportunity for us. We got invited out by 343, actually, to play the game in Seattle, before it was released. We were all quite excited about the new game, so we put a lot of time and effort into it.ĭid you get to play much of Halo 5 in advance of its release? I can't imagine (its makers) 343 Industries just dropping it on you at the same time as the public. Last year was really good to us, especially the back end of it, leading into the release of Halo 5. I rather forced him back, but since then we've won a lot of events. So he's playing with us again, after he'd taken a break for a year or two. So after that, we only played one more event as that team, and then one member left, which was actually a blessing in disguise as it meant I could get my twin brother, Will, back into Halo. We were amongst the favorites to win that, but we came out third, which was a disappointment-we'd underestimated how good our opponents were going to be. What's changed since then? Have you had many major successes in playing Halo? Where do we find you at the start of 2016?Īlex Buck: Well, when I spoke to you back then, that was right before the Battle of Europe competition. Overall, we want to improve the Ranked CTF experience on the map before reintroducing it to these playlists.VICE: Last time we spoke, around a year ago, you were training hard in all the time you had off from your day job. As a result, players often find themselves engaged in firefights with limited options from the outside of the map. ![]() There also appears to be a lack of viable cover opportunities throughout the map, which is exacerbated when all players are wielding a BR 75. This goes for both attacking and defending teams. Similarly, players seem to be respawning in places that can often feel unpredictable and therefore frustrating to deal with. This leaves players feeling that even a well-coordinated team push into the enemy base can fall apart quickly resulting in flag pulls being much more difficult than they should be. Spawning on the perimeter of the bases with a direct line of sight to the flag stand, in addition to BR 75 starts, is creating a more frenetic match pace than desired. Most of this data revolves around spawning and effective cover around the map. We’ve seen enough data to show us that the map is not performing in ranked as intended. ![]() This will not affect most players, but it will mean Onyx players will spend less time in Diamond since the system already knows that they are likely an Onyx player. ![]() Much like above, since we’re resetting ranks in the middle of the season, we want to reduce the disruption it may cause by raising this to Diamond 5.
